Workshop How to Write a Neutron Beamtime Proposal 2025

International Hands-on Workshop

International Hands-on Workshop on beamtime proposal writing, organized by CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials together with NeMPo – a Group of Neutron and Muon Users in Portugal aims to support researchers in crafting successful applications for beamtime access at large-scale European research facilities.

Objectives: (1) To encourage researchers in submitting proposals to large-scale European research facilities, (2) To increase number of successful beamtime proposals; particularly, from new users.

Structure

The workshop follows a comprehensive three-step approach:

I) Online Registration and Declaration of Interest: Participants express their interest and register for the event – before 22 February 2025

II) Online Information Session: This session provides an overview of the available instruments, potential experiments, and how to fill out the beamtime application form effectively. – 5 March 2025

III) In-person Session: Participants will engage in hands-on discussions with experienced tutors to refine their draft proposals, with a focus on practical feedback and improvements. – 14 March 2025
