Workshop 'How to Write a Neutron Beamtime Proposal 2025' Was a Great Success!

Mariela Nolasco, Andrei Salak, and Paulo Ribeiro-Claro from CICECO and the University of Aveiro, along with Maria Paula Marques from the University of Coimbra, organized the International Hands-on Workshop on Beamtime Proposal Writing on March 5, 2025, in collaboration with NeMPo. The event helped researchers develop competitive beamtime applications for European research facilities while fostering global knowledge exchange.

Supported by the EU project NEPHEWS, which promotes scientific training across Europe, the workshop aimed to increase beamtime proposal submissions and success rates, especially for new users. It followed a three-step approach: online registration, a hybrid session on March 5 introducing instruments and application guidance, and an in-person session on March 14 for hands-on proposal refinement with expert tutors.

Distinguished speakers included Philip King, Stewart Parker, Pascal Manuel (ISIS Neutron and Muon Source), and Catarina Araújo (CICECO, University of Aveiro). With expert guidance and active participation, the workshop successfully equipped researchers with the skills to submit stronger beamtime proposals.
