Mariela Nolasco, a researcher at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Aveiro, has been appointed to the FAP5 panel on Molecular Spectroscopy at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the United Kingdom. This panel focuses on spectroscopy applications in chemistry, materials science, and biosciences, including catalysis.
FAP5 is one of ten expert panels that assess proposals for beamtime access at ISIS, collectively reviewing between 1,500 and 2,000 applications each year. Comprised of leading scientists with expertise in neutron and muon techniques, these panels evaluate submissions and recommend projects to the ISIS Director. Panel members are selected through a transparent and inclusive process aligned with the STFC’s peer-review standards and serve for six meetings over a period of about three years.
By joining this panel, Nolasco will contribute her scientific expertise alongside internationally renowned specialists, helping to shape the research agenda at one of the world’s foremost facilities for neutron and muon science.
